Linda Juliano

Linda Juliano — also know as my mom — has been the heart of our family kitchen for as long as I can remember. She's a mother to five children and a grandmother to ten. She's a beast in the kitchen and always blows us away with way too much delicious food during the holidays.

Mom's Cheesecake

Cheesecake

This is the first recipe that came to mind when starting to add recipes to this site. The Cheesecake is an absolute legend in our family. I have loved this dessert my entire life. To me, this is the epitome of a family recipe. It's rich and creamy from the cream cheese and the crumble crust gives it a nice crunch.

Instructions

  1. Crust: Combine ingredients in a baking pan using a fork to create a crumbly texture that's roughly blueberry sized.
  2. Bake in pre-heated oven at 400°F for 10 minutes. Stir several times while baking. Be cautious as it can burn quickly if you aren't paying attention. Remove from oven when deep golden brown and allow to cool.
  3. Add mixture to bottom of serving dish but reserve 1/3 for topping.
  4. Filling: Mix ingredients together and spoon over cooled crust.
  5. Strawberry Topping: Mix strawberry glaze with sliced strawberries and spread over filling. Use the reserved crust crumbles to top the dessert.
  6. Enjoy!

Recipe Summary

Though it's definitely not a traditional cheesecake it has achvieved legendary status in our family. We're talking 40 plus years of loving this dessert. It traditionally has been served in a large baking dish but can really be served in whatever vessel you'd like. Individual serving cups makes for a nice presentation and makes the dessert more portable. Also, though cherry and strawberry have been the most popular toppings over the years, you could really use any berry you'd like.
