Catherine is a mother of two boys, a step-mother to another boy, and a loving wife. She is an excellent cook and has introduced her family to dishes most people in Indiana have never had the joy of trying. She LOVES rice. She can often be heard saying, "This would be so good with rice!"

Catherine's Sinigang

Dish Photo

Sinigang is a traditional Filipino soup known for its comforting, savory, and distinctly sour flavor profile that is traditionally achieved through tamarind, guava, or other tangy fruits. It is almost always made with pork as the richness of the pork pairs excellently with the sourness of the broth.

It is, of course, served with white rice. Catherine's Sinigang is loved by all three of her boys and her husband.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. In a medium sauce pot, squeeze the tomatoes and onions with a tsp of salt
  2. Add 4 cups of water and bring to boil.
  3. Cut the pork into roughly 1 inch pieces.
  4. Add the pork to the sauce pot and let it cook for 30 minutes or until the pork is tender.
  5. Add the sinigang mix, green beans, radish, pepperconcini and fish sauce.
  6. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve with white rice.

Recipe Summary

As mentioned, Sinigang is served with a plate of white rice. The broth is poured over the rice and everything is eaten together. Catherine prefers the Knorr brand of Tamarind soup mix.
